Art Reception and Author Event
July 13 5-7  PM
Kristin Sample, Author, Lake Highlands Resident and YAMily will present her latest book, One Square Mile during our July Artists Receptions. Sample the book as deeply personal, likening it to “The House on Mango Street meets, well, my ’90s childhood.”
Having spent considerable time on Long Island, she draws from her own experiences and a profound appreciation for The House on Mango Street. Sample was inspired to write her book after meeting Sandra Cisneros, the author of The House on Mango Street, during Cisneros’ visit to Hockaday School. Sample, who had been teaching the book to her students and had loved it since her teenage years, found the encounter particularly motivating.
“It is such a relatable piece of literature that at any age I could encounter it and discover something new in it,” says Sample. “So just hearing her talk about the writing process and about making a career out of writing was inspiring to me.”

Creative Connections Event

YAM Kicks off Collaboration White Rock Artists’ Studio Tour

YAM invites the community to its “Creative Connections” event featuring Clara Johnson and Jim Hastings on May 4 at 2 PM. The event will also feature a special appearance by local author Allison Zatarain, who will be signing copies of her acclaimed book, “Happy Gifting.”

The event is free to attend.

YAM will host various White Rock Artists Studio Tour artists now thru October, Elizabeth Dryden and Laura Moore installations will showcased on May 18, 2024.

 

YAM + Outside, TX present: Adventures in Yoga at The Dallas Farmer’s Market on March 2, 2024

What better way to celebrate Texas Independence Day than with a morning yoga flow,

The 2nd installment of “Outside, Texas: Adventures in Yoga”, a collab between Outside, Texas, YAM and Dallas Farmer’s Market will be a free class right by “the shed” at 9am on Saturday, March 2, 2024. Raffle prizes from Outside, Texas and YAM will be given to those who sign up. The sun will be shining, good tunes will be jamming and a fun all levels flow will be served up. Come join us!
